What to do in Ibirapuera Park
>> visit the AfroBrasil museum
Inaugurated in 2004, the museum is dedicated to the history, culture and art of the black people in Brazil, with a vast collection on the theme, including a deep approach to the period of slavery in Brazil. An excellent museum located inside the park, next to gate 10. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm, costs BRL15 (free on Wednesdays). Click here to book.

Inside the Park you can also find the Ibirapuera Planetarium (the first in Brazil, since 1957), and it offers spatial projections inside the dome on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and costs BRL20.

the Museum of Modern Art is also located inside the park, in the middle of the Marquise, next to the Bienal building and next to the Oca (next to gate 1). The museum was founded in 1949, and has been located in the current space since 1969. It has an important collection of modern Brazilian art, and also the beautiful Garden of Sculptures in the front. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm, and you pay as much you want. Click here to book.

inside Ibirapuera Park you find OCA building for temporary art exhibitions. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, it is a white building, with a hemispheric shape, and offers temporary exhibitions (always from Tuesday to Sunday).
>> Brazilian Cinematheque (outside the park)
Located close to the park and also close to our Meeting Point, Cinemateca Brasileira is responsible for the largest audiovisual collection in Latin America. It has two movie theaters with exhibitions, in addition to being able to visit public spaces and the beautiful garden with fruit trees and sculptures. right after the tour is finished you can visit the Museum of Contemporary Art, with its incredible collection of modern and contemporary art, one of the largest in Latin America. The building has eight floors, with at least four floors with exhibitions open to the public. It is possible to visit the top of the building, with a wonderful panoramic view of the park. uou can walk back to Ibirapuera Park, to the Bienal Pavillon, where happens the Art Exibition "Bienal" (the international Biennal of São Paulo) - the largest modern art exibition in Latin America. Every odd years, from Setember to December, Tuesday to Sunday, from 11am to 9pm, free.

every day in the late afternoon it is possible to enjoy the light show and fountains on the lake in Ibirapuera Park. It takes place on the side of the lake that borders Pedro Álvares Cabral Ave, can be watched free of charge from any edge of the lake. It happens daily from 18h.
